Gerrick Office is an architecture and design firm based in Seattle, Washington and certified by the Washington State Office of Minority and Women’s Business Enterprises (OMWBE) as a Minority Business Enterprise (MBE).

As designers, our primary focus is on optimizing existing spaces and sites and discovering their hidden potential. This might include reclaiming attic spaces above a home or garage, lifting a house to gain habitable basement space, exploring the possiblity of accessory structures to increase density, or transforming nondescript secondary areas into uplifting spiritual spaces. We search for opportunities to improve existing conditions through economical means reusing materials where possible, rather than tearing down and building with increasingly limited resources. Through this thoughtful dialogue with the past, novel and unexpected solutions arise that transcend preconceived design notions and suggest new ways of living in the world.

Misun (Mee-Sun) Chung Gerrick is co-owner and principal architect of Gerrick Office (G.O.) Her design approach is grounded in creating elegant, personal and tranquil spaces with a strong emphasis on materiality, craftsmanship and refined detailing.

Misun spent over two decades at Olson Kundig, where she worked closely with builders and craftspeople, explored innovative building technologies and advanced sustainable design strategies. Her work spanned residential and institutional projects, with a focus on maintaining design integrity through all phases of construction, including contract administration. During this time, her experience also included community engagement efforts, serving as a volunteer design review board member and volunteering as a project manager for an orphanage in Tanzania.

Prior to joining Olson Kundig, Misun’s experience included work with firms in Baltimore, Syracuse, New York City and South Korea, contributing to a diverse range of projects and design perspectives.

She is a licensed Architect in the State of Washington and a LEED Accredited Professional. Misun holds a Master of Architecture from the University of Washington and a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design from Syracuse University.

In 2021 Misun founded Gerrick Office, where she brings her experience, insight and dedication to creating inspiring spaces for clients.
